Pushing Creativity at the Jefferson Project Warehouse

This past Monday, I had the opportunity to work on a fashion photography project at the Jefferson Project warehouse in Bay City, Michigan. One of the things I enjoy most about photography is stepping outside of the everyday and creating something purely for the sake of creativity. Projects like this challenge me to see light, composition, and storytelling in new ways.

The Jefferson Project warehouse provided the perfect setting. Its industrial atmosphere, textured walls, and unique spaces created a dramatic backdrop that complemented the fashion concepts we wanted to bring to life. Every corner seemed to offer another opportunity to experiment with lighting, posing, and composition.

Fashion photography is very different from traditional portrait work. It requires thinking beyond simply capturing a person and instead creating images that communicate style, mood, and emotion. Collaborating with talented models and working through different ideas throughout the day made the experience both exciting and rewarding.

Personal projects like these are important because they stretch creativity and inspire new approaches that carry over into all areas of photography. Whether photographing seniors, families, or commercial clients, I believe continuing to learn and challenge yourself helps keep your work fresh and exciting.

I'm thankful for the opportunity to create in such a unique location and appreciate everyone who helped make the project possible. Days like this remind me why I fell in love with photography over 38 years ago. There is always something new to learn, a different perspective to discover, and another story waiting to be told.
